What better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day then with these romantic picnic engagement photos! Styled by Vintage Meant for Rent, everything about this perfectly laid out picnic says love. Roses, sweet treats baked by the mother of the bride to be, darling signs, and just an endless amount of cuteness between Krista and Mike, make this one sweet engagement session. I love that there were two concepts starting with a playful spring like picnic that ended in a more elegant one. I would take either of these two picnics today to celebrate love with my better half. If you’re in need of some ideas for your own e-session, you can’t go wrong with inspiration from this beautiful one captured by L’Estelle Photography. Wishing you and yours a very happy Valentine’s!
From L’Estelle Photography, Although we met Krista and Mike for the first time at this engagement session, immediately we felt a connection with them. Later on we discovered they are also animal lovers like us! We had decided to do a picnic themed engagement shoot at Burnaby Lake Nature Park, where there are plenty of animals. Krista and Mike were hoping to get some nice shots with their beloved cat as well during this shoot. We had the pleasure of inviting the stylist and set designer, Karen, from Vintage Meant for Rent, to style and design the picnic for the couple.
Krista’s mother bakes the best pastries, and she made lemon butterfly cupcakes and raspberry chocolate cupcakes for us. Tom and I could not stop eating them after the session; they were way too delicious! At the end of the shoot, we had a chance to ask the couple about their love story, and we must share it with you,
Michael, and Krista spent many years working together, alongside the animals. However, it wasn’t until a few years later, and some time apart that they began spending time together outside of work, and discovered that their shared love of animals was not the only thing they had in common. On November 30th, 2014, after spending the day together in the snow, Michael played a song for Krista, which he had played for the first time earlier that day. They listened to the song, “Forever”, by Ben Harper, a few times, and while the song was in interlude, Mike asked Krista if she would be his forever. Krista replied, “of course I already am! Silly goose!”
Unexpectedly, he opened her hand, and gave her something. To her surprise, she was handed a ring, and the gravity of his question became clear, and Krista couldn’t hold back the tears, and said “yes!”
