As the President of Reverie Gallery and as a Wedding Planner, it’s so nice to be able to design beautiful photo shoots, especially this one. Naomi Martinez of Naomi Studio and Salon called me to collaborate on styling a Hartford City Hall Wedding Glam shoot in Connecticut. It’s always wonderful to work with a real couple, and Naomi couldn’t have found a better model than her former bridal client, Miss USA 2013 and Miss Connecticut, Erin Brady Capasso and her husband Tony Capasso. Erin looked absolutely stunning in the hair and makeup looks that Naomi and Tonya chose for her, and the gowns from Mariella Creations.
When styling this shoot, we wanted to incorporate the Pantone color of the year, Marsala, into our palette. I love to build complex and unusual palettes so I considered how Marsala would play against the slate blue tones in Hartford City Hall. I added slate blue, gold, and blush pink to our focal color Marsala which we pulled in subtly with our florals and Erin’s makeup. We were quickly able to pull together a beautiful invitation by Admire Design, gorgeous florals by Just for You Floral Design Studio, and a stunning wedding cake by Ana Parzych Cakes.
Erin Brady Capasso shares her story, We got involved with the shoot after booking Naomi and Tonya for our wedding on December 13, 2014. They did an unbelievable job and we wanted to really kick it up a notch and do an editorial styled shoot. Naomi worked her magic and put all of the puzzle pieces together. Anytime I am asked to be dolled up and shot in amazing gowns, I know there is no way it won’t be a great time. Especially being able to involve my husband. There is something very special about the chemistry between husband and wife when you are able to re-enact your wedding in a more relaxed setting. After hearing Naomi’s ideas and seeing the vision behind the shoot, I knew it would be amazing. The hair and makeup is simply flawless. Naomi and Tonya have a vision and just nail it every time. The vendors were great as well. Blue Diamond photography is fantastic and were able to capture such simple beauty with soft lighting and a great venue. There was a sense of romance and vintage with the decor including a fur rug and a typewriter. Everything else from the great cake, to the angelic dresses from Mariella Creations, to the flower arrangements were just beautiful.
Matt Van Ness, owner of MV Film Productions reflects about our shoot, We loved working with some of Connecticut’s top-notch creatives together on a high profile styled shoot where we had the opportunity to be creative, inspire and learn from everyone, all under one project. Being able to capture some unique angles and shots that were posed, lit, and executed professionally makes for a fantastic film.
Matt continues, I believe that this specific styled shoot was different for us in terms of the specific location inside City Hall as well as our models. Being able to work with our couple Erin and Tony, the fact that they are already a married couple, and ones that understand and know about posing, lighting and style helps us produce cinema that is elegant and modern. With this shoot, we were able to focus on some behind the scenes scenes as well as the actual shoot itself. Made for a very exciting and upbeat shoot and film.
Bob and Tammy from Blue Diamond Photography took the most breathtakingly stunning images during our shoot. Their use of lighting and their ability to capture Naomi and Tonya’s work, the gowns, and our design details resulted in heavenly images! Our team was thrilled at how Blue Diamond Photography’s images and MV Film Productions’ videos came together.

Mariella Garofalo-Perna of Mariella Creations shares more about the fashion choices for our shoot, For this photo shoot we chose gowns that Naomi wanted the shoot to portray. The first gown was by Allure Bridal a soft Ivory pleated skirt with a magnificent beaded sheer back. Both gowns we wanted a soft look including Erin’s hair and makeup but also the jewelry and hairpieces to standout but not over power the soft features Erin has. Naomi and staff did a superb job in creating not only the perfect setting but also the perfect makeup and hair.
What I loved about styling Erin is she has such beautiful features and figure, she was so easy going and of course everything she put on looked magnificent on her.
Geoff Ecker of General Eclectic on rental choices, We brought out high back love seat, one of our most popular rental items, along with the ottoman, wolf pelt, books and our second most popular item, the Lincoln bar. The Lincoln Bar gets it's name from the fact the top is decorated with pennies in epoxy from the 1930's to modern pennies. Our goal is always to bring that little extra or unexpected to an event or a style shoot. The desire to have a few stand-out pieces or bring something that wasn't expected is the current trend in rentals, and we do our best to provide this service over and over again. There is a desire to reach beyond the traditional wedding set ups and push the limits of design. We are here to help make this happen!
Adrienne Craig of Admire Design shares her inspiration for her invitation design, The interior of the space (City Hall) was my inspiration for this Invitation. I wanted it to be really romantic, warm and rich but without using a lot of color. I limited papers to ivory and champagne tones - this allows the slate blue text to really pop even though is a neutral color. The ornate border along with the flowers pairs structure with softness. I also was excited to work with the new Velvet Hammer script by Great Lakes Lettering - gorgeous.
Jane Brayshaw Rynaski on the florals, I love the classics with a modern twist. So it had to be peonies and roses, but with some texture. So with that inspiration and a trip down to NYC I looked for a mix flowers that were both soft yet dramatic.
The architecture in Hartford City Hall was the beginning of our inspiration for the design of this shoot. The gorgeous slate blue and gray tones mixed with the warm terra cotta and creams and the incredible architectural details make this shoot feel instantly romantic and timeless. Blue Diamond Photography was able to capture the most gorgeous angles and elements!
From Ana Parzych on the design of her gorgeous cake, The beautiful architecture of the Hartford City Hall with its Beaux Arts style translated into its sculptural details, grand spaces and eclecticism. We also incorporated a monogram with the couple’s last name initial for a customized look. Current design trends show a return to the elegant and formal centerpiece wedding cake, with ornate and gilded details and of course, the marsala color. For this cake we created different sugar flowers, such as peonies, which you can find in nature in this rich wine shade complemented by peach garden roses, freesia and grey/green foliage.
