This The Galas Barn wedding in California is the epitome of rustic elegance! These two high school sweethearts had a day filled with love and as you will see full of so much pretty. I am in love with the invitation suite from Minted perfect for a rustic celebration. Bride Aaliyah looked stunning with makeup by Ashley Cogburn and a sweet half up half down hair style by Jena Wesselink that perfectly compliments her sweetheart style Mira Bridal gown. Equally as gorgeous were her maids dressed in floor length blush Kennedy Blue gowns.
I could just imagine sitting there under that sprawling blue sky for the outdoor ceremony followed by grabbing a cocktail in those cute mason jars! Rentals by Giuffra’s Party Rentals, Simple Country Weddings, and Vintage Rentals by Unique Boutique, transformed the barn into one beautiful setting. Guests dined on catering by L & M Blodgett Catering, and ended the night eating sweet treats and the prettiest all white cake by Dutch Girls Baking Company. Lucky for us we get to sit here and stare all day at the wonderful details captured by Catherine Leanne Photography.
From Catherine Leanne Photography, Derek and Aaliyah met at the UC Davis field day in high school. They get to live happily ever after as each other’s high school sweethearts. Their story started five plus years ago at just the beginning of a big adventure which has included traveling, competing together at several FFA field days, attending country concerts, dancing the night away at high school dances, being young at heart in Disneyland, vacationing with their families in Hawaii, and numerous other escapades. “The adventures and memories we have made so far are just a small amount of what we hope to share in our lifetime together.”- Aaliyah.
Their engagement story is just too cute to leave out.
From the groom, After many trips to Disneyland with Aaliyah, it has become one of our favorite vacation destinations. This trip to Disneyland would be the best by far. We arrived at Disneyland on Friday March 13 th and we met up with our old friends from high school , Zach and Emily. We had a great first day even though I was very nervous for what was in store for tomorrow, asking Aaliyah to marry me. So on Saturday morning, I needed to find balloons to fully execute the plan. After several hours of searching Zach and Emily found the balloons for me. So we then planned to meet at the front of the castle at 10am. Aaliyah and I had just finished riding the boats of Storybook Land when we headed towards the front of the castle. We met Zach and Emily there right at the perfect time. Zach had a handful of balloons and Emily was holding the very special "Up" themed ring box which my sister Danielle was kind enough to make for me. The whole proposal was based on the movie "Up", which is one of our numerous favorite Disney movies. There was a Disneyland photographer there and I let her know what I was about to do. I then proceeded to bring Aaliyah to the front of the draw bridge and get down on my knee. I was overwhelmed with joyful emotions while asking Aaliyah to marry me, but I finally managed to ask and she said YES! With Zach, Emily and the Disneyland photographer there, we got plenty of wonderful pictures that we definitely will cherish forever. It was such an exciting day in the "Happiest Place on Earth" and I will never forget that trip.
From the bride, Disneyland is by far, Derek and mines favorite place to spend time together. Derek planned us a trip with our two dear friends, Zach and Emily, to visit Disneyland in celebration of our fifth anniversary together. The first day seemed like any other trip full of rides, laughter, and of course Disneyland corn dogs. Our next day in the park was a little different. He seemed a little nervous and our friends kept wandering off. Before I knew it, Derek said "It's time" and starting walking me towards the castle. That was when I saw Zach and Emily again. Zach stood there with a handful of balloons, which I now know was 10 in total. I nervously asked him if he had enough, but I knew they weren't for him. I knew they were a part of the surprise Derek had planned. Derek walked over to talk to the Disney photography people and then came back over to get me. He took the balloons from Zach and a book from Emily. Then he took me by the hand and walked us closer to the castle. With a bunch of balloons in one hand and an Up inspired Adventure book in the other, he began telling me how much he loves me. The emotion and love I saw from him in the moment is one of the most beautiful things we have shared. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him and of course I said yes. If you are ever in Disneyland and run into a sweet little lady named Luci make sure to tell her hi! Disneyland doesn't sell balloons at all times of the day, but Luci helped Derek out and for that I will always be thankful. She was so happy for us when we went back to thank her. She even got us "Happily Ever After" pins to wear in celebration.
After the high school sweethearts said “I Do!” they took off for their highly anticipated honeymoon in Hawaii where they get to reminisce of other memories they have shared on the island.
