There is something inexplicably romantic and utterly beautiful about day after wedding photography. Even more so when it is captured by the talents of photographer Annie Tao in the gorgeous Elizabeth Gamble Garden in California. The sunlight, that incredible dress and the after results of two people very much in love who now adoringly giggle and whisper sweet nothings while saying husband and wife. That right there is gush worthy. Lisa and Richard are going to leave you feeling on cloud nine after you witness their love today. It is true, there is nothing like those very firsts as husband and wife.
From Photographer Annie Tao, Photographing Lisa and Richard was an immense pleasure because I’ve known Richard since our college days at UC Berkeley, which was a loooong time ago! This shoot was my wedding gift to him and his gorgeous bride. It was the best gift I could give them because it was a time that they could just be themselves — in their wedding attire — without the pressures of a wedding day timeline or needing to mingle with guests. It was just an afternoon at a garden with friends!
The shoot started off with hair and makeup running long, so we arrived at the garden later than planned. We had less than an hour of sunlight, so I shot the couple during that time and focused on Lisa after the sun set for some creative styled shots. It was so fun to be able to try different things with gorgeous people who know me and trust me. Balancing Lisa in a heavy (but gorgeous) wedding gown upright on a chair that was sinking into the mud and putting the couple in the middle of prickly bushes were just a few of my ideas that I knew would look great, but most people would probably question. Ha!
All in all, we had a lovely and fun time together. And we have romantic, dreamy images to boot!
Be sure to catch the bride Lisa’s story at the end.
From the bride Lisa, We were are really excited to have Annie photograph our Day After photos because we love her work and wanted to capture this special time in our life just a little bit more. Plus any excuse to get back into my big fluffy dress! The inspiration for our photo shoot was our personalities spending a day at the park all dolled up. We both are quirky in our own ways that are sometimes extreme to other people, but makes sense to each other. And even though our quirks are different, they actually complement each other. We have a lot of fun together, from dancing in the park to my adrenaline fueled adventures...and things are always more fun when we do it together.
When Annie suggested to shoot at the Elizabeth Gamble Garden we were very excited. I love the beautiful flowers and the romantic feeling of strolling through the park. Annie was able to use the little details from our wedding day as inspiration. For instance, the little piggies that represented the years we were born in. The jewelry box with the date of our wedding day engraved on it was used to carry our wedding rings down the aisle. But most importantly... Annie was able to capture us in a timeless beauty that we will cherish forever.
