This classic wedding that took place at The Peninsula Hotel in Chicago is just the breath of fresh air you need to get through the rest of your week!
Two Birds Photography captured all the amazing details from so many great vendors in the Chicago area! Kehoe Designs provided the beautiful floral design which showcased some of the most popular botanical elements of the season with faded blush roses, minty dusty miller, and whimsical eucalyptus branches! Not to be outdone, Tipsy Cakes & Bella Figura created some stunning confections and stationary that only highlighted the clean color palette!
The bride looks beautiful in her gown from Belle Vie Bridal Couture and flawless makeup by Beauty on Call! The gentlemen looked just as handsome in their attire from The Black Tux and J Crew! This couple truly looked amazing and the best part about their attire was the love they have for one another!
A wedding would not be complete without the night being filled with the sounds of music and dancing by Hey Jimmy band and it all being captured in a stunning wedding cinema by Leap Weddings! Before the evening ended guests made their way to The Traveling Photobooth for some fun before the last song!
So many great vendors came together to make this day a dream and there is no better person to tell you all about it than the bride herself! Make sure you check out her story at the end!
From the Bride, Matt and I met during medical school at Loyola in Chicago. In August 2014, we were in Nashville doing an away rotation, preparing for applying for residency spots all over the country. The last weekend of our rotation, many of our friends and our families were in Nashville with us. Little did I know we were going to be celebrating our engagement.
I was so surprised and immediately started thinking about wedding planning! We decided to have a shorter engagement (a little less than 8 months) so that we could get married when we were still in school and before residency started, mostly because we had no idea where we'd be doing residency (and wouldn't until March!). And we decided to get married in Chicago because we absolutely love the city and wanted a fun celebration there before we moved to start our new jobs.
Because we had a shorter engagement and spent a lot of that time traveling for interviews and away from Chicago, our approach to wedding planning was picking vendors we loved and trusting them to do what they do best. And we couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out. We picked gold, creams and blush with touches of navy blue as our overall colors and wanted a romantic, classic feel to the day - plus a really fun party!
We both got ready at the Peninsula Chicago, where our reception would be. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and everyone there couldn't have done more to make our day as easy and stress-free as possible. We had our first look there, then went out with our bridal party to take pictures around the city.
Picking an April wedding in Chicago meant we had NO idea what the weather would be like - and it ended up being about 45 degrees and misty rain throughout the day. That meant the outdoor picture locations we picked were changed the day of. After pictures at Union Station, the Millenium Street bridge and a few in Millenium Park, we headed to Saint James Chapel for our ceremony. The Chapel is beautiful but still intimate, which is really what we were looking for. Our priest was a family friend, which was very special for us as well. After the ceremony, Matt and I walked over to the Peninsula to enjoy our reception with all our guests.
This was one of my favorite parts of the day, a little time just the two of us to talk and take a breather from the events of the day. We had friends and family who came from everywhere to be with us, which was so special. We absolutely loved our reception and we think our guests did too.
