Big City Bride gathered some of the best in the business to create a one of kind evening for the bride and groom! Stunning blooms for KLA Floral Design, couture confections by Amy Beck Cake Design, and gorgeous gourmet by Limelight! There was also wondrous décor by Bowery & Bash, magical lighting by Frost Lighting, and lush BBJ Linens!
The bride looked absolutely perfect in her Oscar de la Renta gown! It was an evening to remember and definitely what you need to end your week! Enjoy!
From the bride: Mike and I met on a snowy night in March at Suite Lounge, a somewhat dive bar in Chicago. We both spotted each other from across the bar and I was definitely intrigued. He actually caught me pointing him out to one of my friends, not my smoothest move. Undeterred, he ended up coming over to me and we have been together ever since that moment.
A few years later, we went on our annual date to Lincoln Park Zoo Lights. At the bridge overlooking the skyline of the city, he dropped down on one knee and proposed. It was such a great moment and was secretly captured by his dad who was waiting for us, unbeknownst to me. We toasted with champagne and a great dinner and then Mike led me to Chicago Q, where he had arranged for our friends and family to celebrate with us.
When planning our wedding, we knew we wanted a venue that had the old school, beautiful architecture that Chicago has to offer. When we walked into the Great Hall at Union Station, we knew we had found the perfect spot for us. You really cannot find a more elegant, classic Chicago spot. We were married at Our Lady of Perpetual help in Glenview, my parochial parish, and then headed down to the city to begin the celebrations.
I knew from a young age I wanted a formal, traditional, black tie wedding. Our church and Union Station both felt like the perfect backdrops to fit the look I wanted. We warmed Union Station with beautiful white drapery and enhanced the natural glamor of the space with white flowers, clear and crystal vases, hung chandeliers, and the perfect accent lighting.
After dinner and dancing, we continued the evening with a late night party in a small room at Union Station and also had a candy bar aptly named "Suite Lounge". We really could not have asked for a more perfect night. Everything felt dreamlike and we feel lucky to have started our life together in such a beautiful, classic venue.
